This account blocked me before I even saw this tweet, but to offer a response: yes. But additionally, Mormonism is also inconsistent with Mormonism & the New Testament is also inconsistent with the New Testament. That's kinda the nature of dogmatic traditions.

Laughably stupid. The number of times a manuscript was copied does not constitute evidence of any kind for the existence of a historical figure & we have mountains of material & other epigraphic & literary evidence of these other figures that is entirely non-existent for Jesus.

Agreed that understanding how the word "god" is used in the Bible helps a lot. In fact, I wrote a master's thesis & a doctoral dissertation & published a monograph on precisely that question, as well as 2 papers on Psalm 82. The discussion linked to here gets everything wrong.
Understanding how the word β€œgod” is used biblically helps a lot:) I understand the confusion on both sides:) gotquestions.org/you-are-god…

A few things here: 1 - Most of the New Testament asserts a works-based soteriology 2 - For over a century, most Mormons interpreted 2 Nephi 25:23 to assert a works-based soteriology 3 - That interpretation is demonstrably wrong, as I show here: works.hcommons.org/records/1…

Guess what your dogma about truth being based on the Bible is based on? That’s right, it’s based on your feelings. Imagine that. Your dogmas are just like Mormon dogmas.
"Read the Book of Mormon and then pray if it's true or not!" Truth is based on the Bible, not on our feelings.

I am under absolutely no obligation whatsoever to have charity for folks who belligerently and brainlessly bray a stupid and a hateful ideology that drives children to take their own lives.
Replying to @maklelan
Dang…love your content, but this comes across as really immature. Where’s a sense of charity?

Uh, no, that's a misreading of Genesis 1:1. בראשיΧͺ is in the construct every time it occurs, which means this passage is a temporal clause better translated "When God began to create the heavens & the earth, the earth was 'formless & void' ... You don't know Hebrew.
Y’all, β€œIn the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1 God created that formless void earth first, in Genesis 1:1. Probably should have read that first. God created the formless and void earth first, and then shaped it throughout the following days. He made the dust on day three, by the way. It’s all laid out in order, very simply.

Not according to the Bible. Genesis 19 narrates the sin of Sodom as men using the threat of raping other men as a means of emasculating & shaming them. Ezekiel adds to it the refusal to aid the poor & needy. You don’t know jack about your Bible & you need to grow the fuck up.

The majority of (non-Mormon) scholars agree creation ex nihilo is a philosophical innovation of the 2nd century CE. IOW, it's not in the Bible (like most things Mormons & other Christians believe). Everybody's theology is mostly post-biblical renegotiations. You're not special.
The Mormon church (because maybe not all Mormons believe this, but this is what the church teaches) brings God low. The God of the Mormon church didn’t create the world out of nothing. He only reorganized what was already there. This makes God less than God. The Mormon church demoted God, and promotes humans with the potential to be gods.

Jesus didn't. Racist white men and the power structures they developed did.
Hey Mormons, Why did Jesus want to keep black people out of temples until 1978? And why are you all too scared to answer the question?

The cowardice & fragility of mediocre men retreating to rank misogyny as rhetorical prophylaxis for their inadequacies will never cease to entertain me. The final salvo before blocking me was just icing on this cake.

Cognitive scientist of religion here. It is simply not true that "people have to worship something." While most everyone believes in something bigger than themselves, that overwhelmingly means things other than deities. This is an asinine attempt to make atheism a religion.
People have to worship something, and they have to believe in something bigger than themselves even if they claim to be atheists.

Two things: (1) losing a prooftext for Jesus' divinity doesn't proves Christianity is false; (2) Jude 5 interprets Jesus as the angel of YHWH who says "I am the god of your father" in Exod 3:6 & guides the Israelites in Exod 23:20–21. See chapter 6 here: sbl-site.org/wp-content/uplo…

The Christianic Dilemma In Jude 1:5, some Bible versions say that JESUS saved the Israelites out of Egypt, while others say it was the LORD If it was JESUS, then the Old Testament is contradicted because it says YHWH saved Israel from Egypt, not Jesus. Therefore Xtianity is false If it was LORD, then a major proof of Jesus’s divinity text disappears. Therefore Xtianity is false Either way, Christianity is false.
