#London - In a shocking discovery last night, a newborn baby girl was found abandoned in a shopping bag at the junction of Greenway and High Street South, E6, in Newham.
The baby, who was wrapped in a towel, was found by a member of the public while out walking their dog.

@MPSNewham ], reported that the baby is now safe and well, thanks to the quick thinking of the passerby who found her.
They kept the baby warm until paramedics from the London Ambulance Service [
@Ldn_Ambulance ] arrived, checked her over, and then took her to the hospital. Remarkably, the baby was not injured and is currently being cared for by hospital staff.
Chief Superintendent Crick expressed his gratitude to the individuals who remained at the scene to assist the officers and medical team, acknowledging that their actions played a crucial role in saving the baby's life.
The police's primary concern now is for the welfare of the baby's mother.
Chief Superintendent Crick emphasised the traumatic ordeal she must have gone through and stressed the urgent need for her to receive immediate medical attention.
He assured them that trained medics and specialist officers were ready to provide support and urged her to contact the nearest hospital or police station.
The baby was found at around 21:13hrs on Thursday, 18 January.
Following the discovery, the police have completed their work at the scene, and the crime scene has been closed.
The police are in contact with local hospitals and authorities and are appealing for the child's mother to come forward.
