Lovely to spend time with this Chinkwell Registered Dartmoor Ponies mare and her new arrival, keeping quietly away from the main herd for these first precious days together. It is always fascinating to watch how the mares often seek out calmer corners of the moor before gradually introducing their foals to the wider herd and the social life of Dartmoor. These quiet moments are all part of the story of our native ponies semi-wild, instinctive and perfectly adapted to life on the moor.
