We're having a blast chatting with all of you and sharing your answers, and can't wait to keep this party going at the festival! Until next week... that's a wrap, folks!
As an artist, I learned (hopefully) to better manage my expectations and to be as open and flexible as possible to what you encounter during the process. I also will also trust my intuition more next time around after this experience.
Love this question! I learned that the world is more nuanced than we imagine. No matter who we are, it's always hard to accept ourselves and others. My character is walking a fine line between two worlds and must take elements of both with him. We underestimate this challenge.
thank you! that was our objective - to take you on an journey that would touch on a variety of sensations and emotions. The cast and crew were absolutely brilliant. The level of realism we were aiming to achieve is not an easy task!
My research trip to Romania - particularly the time I spent meeting people. @maiamorgenstern who plays the mother in @Ishathefilm was also a great inspiration. Visually we wanted to make a sensual film. my DoP and I looked at French and Polish cinema as well as fav photographers
Through my work I had the privilege of knowing several closeted LGBTQ Jews and Muslims; I began imagining their secret lives and wanted to explore that. I also felt very urgently that it was time to tell a story about opening up oneself to love in spite of hatred and fear
