Parent advocate for #childhoodcancer; son treated for neuroblastoma in 1999. Fighting for QOL for our survivors. Publishes the blog: #SurvivorshipMatters
Philly airport… Thank you for the amazing service for my mother who needed a wheelchair to get to her gate this morning. She was treated so well and is happy to be waiting for her flight to FL to my brothers for the week! A beautiful way to start her journey 🥰
The lion may be the king of the jungle but the lioness is the Queen of the pride. Don't mess with her cubs.!
Another female coming in for back up if needed!! ❤️👏
Presenters at conferences, stop responding to questions during Q&A with “It’s a great question.” When you use it after every question it no longer feels authentic. It gets a bit cringy & no longer of value when heard over & over. Use for emphasis after the really great questions
1/2 Moms and Dads of kids with #ChildhoodCancer - tax day may be a day of dread and shame. Financials get overwhelming and some of us just shut down. We don't have anything left in the fight, and the well of energy is dry. Even if you don't have the $$$..
2/2 file the extension & call the accountant. Get the paperwork in. But if you haven't for awhile. Do it. Scary - but do it anyway. You aren't the only one. And its painful. Not everyone can appreciate a victory for what others do every year, but cheering you on. 🎉#YouCanDoIt
An important rule with adult sons … When your 29-year-old asks you to get together to hit some golfballs at the driving range at the end of a long day - always say yes. 🥰🥰🥰
#Childhoodcancer families with #financialtoxicity, don't ever give up on addressing the $$$. I've had ten years of tax issues & just signed 95% of what is outstanding, with the remainder to come. Its hard, covered in shame, and emotional. But it doesn't have to stay that way.
Moms of children with #childhoodcancer, it might be in the shower or out on the patio, but most of us use this to get through just about anything that challenges us on this godforsaken path of saving our children. Pretty effective struggling with survivorship as well. #YouAreSeen
Moms of kids in #ChildhoodCancer treatment or #Survivorship, we see you, we hear you, we are with you. We do this one day, sometimes one hour, at a time. Here’s to hoping this day brings about improved health and living life more fully. For the entire family 💛💛💛
Moms & dads of children struggling with #childhoodcancer - we see you, we hear you, we support you. We cry in the shower or scream in the basement & then brush ourselves off and are ready to champion on. It’s a long road & we do our best. Because giving up is not an option.💛
I think many parents of survivors of #childhoodcancer can relate. And people say “you should just be grateful” make you feel ashamed or give you the indication that you aren’t allowed to grieve. Ignore them. We see you. We hear you. We are grieving too.💛
An important message on #InternationalChildhoodCancerDay. A family shouldn't have to sacrifice everything when fighting for one of the children to survive, and thrive. Hoping for days when it doesn't have to be so darn hard. 💛💛💛
