Brain imaging studies found that people at high risk for psychosis have fewer available CB1 receptors! Remember this the next time Sabet or some other cannabis prohibitionists, falsely claims cannabis CAUSES psychosis - it doesn't. Since cannabis helps the endocannabinoid system (ECS), this is important. Possible ways the ECS could help treat early psychosis: Reducing the harmful effects of stress Calming brain inflammation Helping stabilize normal brain development Restoring proper balance between dopamine and glutamate (key brain messengers) pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/4132…

Breakthrough for Arthritis Sufferers: Scientists created a tiny “smart lubricant” nanoparticle loaded with CBD! What the Experiments Showed: Protected cartilage and helped it keep its natural structure. Lowered harmful inflammation chemicals in the joint. Improved how animals walked and moved (better gait). Reduced overall joint damage. Prevented damage to nearby nerves. pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021…

Let's hope it passes and the Governor signs it. 😎
Virginia House budget proposal just dropped - this is encouraging for adult-use cannabis legalization.

There are many studies that back this up and shows why the alcohol industry is so anti cannabis.
Another Study Links Cannabis Use to Reduced Alcohol Intake ...participants consumed fewer alcoholic drinks on days when they used cannabis... ...cannabis substitution could provide individuals with greater choice in managing their alcohol use... norml.org/blog/2025/12/08/ye…

"Medical Cannabis Curriculum for Nursing Students: An Evidence-Based, Ready-to-Teach Framework" Why is the medical profession ignoring medical cannabis? "This chapter presents an evidence-informed, ready-to-implement curriculum for integrating medical cannabis education into undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. Grounded in the NCSBN's 2018 national guidelines and the 2024 ACNA/ANA Cannabis Nursing Scope & Standards of Practice, it translates essential competencies—legal literacy, endocannabinoid system physiology, cannabinoid pharmacology, dosing principles, product literacy, a whole-person assessment, and harm-reduction strategies—into an instructional model that aligns with contemporary nursing education frameworks. Despite widespread patient use, most graduates receive no formal preparation to counsel on cannabis use, assess safety risks, or evaluate drug–drug interactions. This chapter addresses that gap by providing modular content, case-based learning tools, and competency-based evaluation methods. The curriculum equips faculty to teach confidently, supports safe and nonjudgmental patient care, and provides a scalable foundation for all programs seeking to incorporate cannabis therapeutics into modern nursing practice." igi-global.com/chapter/medic…

Why You Can’t Trust Most Studies on Cannabis & Heart Disease Many studies don’t accurately track how much, how often, or how people use cannabis (smoking, vaping, edibles, etc.). They often rely on hospital billing codes instead of detailed patient info. They don’t always separate medical cannabis from recreational use. This is critical since recreational use may be contaminated from illegal sources. Many users also smoke tobacco or use other drugs, making it hard to know what’s really causing problems. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/4141…

CBD for stronger muscles? New evidence links the endocannabinoid system to muscle development & metabolic health! As Bonnie Goldstein said in her book "Cannabis is Medicine", "If someone can't tell you what conditions arise from a dysfunctional ECS, they are not qualified to talk about medical cannabis." When the ECS doesn’t work properly, it has been linked to several health problems, including: Obesity Type 2 diabetes Sarcopenia (age-related muscle loss) Cachexia (severe muscle wasting, often seen in cancer or chronic illness) Muscle dystrophies pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/4226…

You only need surprisingly LOW THC blood levels to get real therapeutic benefits! Key Findings from the Review: Vaporized or Smoked Medical Cannabis (mainly THC): For nerve pain in diabetic neuropathy: A useful blood level appears to be 15–30 ng/mL of THC. For reducing eye pressure (glaucoma): Levels below 20 ng/mL THC worked well. For improving tics (e.g., in Tourette’s): 7.5–10 ng/mL THC was linked to improvement. The feeling of being “high” usually starts at 7–29 ng/mL THC. Nabiximols (Sativex mouth spray – THC CBD):For neuropathic pain and muscle spasticity in multiple sclerosis patients: A preliminary helpful range is 1–10 ng/mL THC. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/4226…

I wonder how much of an impact Federally legalising cannabis in the US, might have on this problem? Second issue, do you think VA will get adult use sales done in the budget process?
Be very careful dealing with Canadian Cannabis companies as well plenty of illicit floating around from Arctic Mexico

"Another Point of View: Reefer Madness!" Authors: Stacy D’Andre, MD (Mayo Clinic) and Donald Abrams, MD (UCSF Professor Emeritus) offer a response to a study by Johnson et al. on cannabis legalization and rising breast/testicular cancer rates in young Americans/Canadians. Main Critique: The study's conclusions are overstated and do not prove causality. It is an ecological/population-level analysis that does not track individual cannabis use or exposure. Alternative Explanations for Rising Cancers: Other factors like processed/ultraprocessed foods (62% of caloric intake in young Americans), obesity, sedentary lifestyle, environmental exposures, gut microbiome changes, tobacco, and alcohol are more plausible contributors with longer exposure periods. Rapid Timeline Issue: Cancer increases occurred too quickly for cannabis to be a potent carcinogen (would expect multi-year/decade lag). If endocrine disruption were involved, observed breast cancers would likely be triple-negative. Testicular Cancer Association: National Academies (NASEM) found only limited evidence linking cannabis to non-seminoma germ cell tumors. This is likely confounded by demographics (young men use cannabis and get testicular cancer) — correlation, not causation (compared to açaí bowls and skin cancer). Broader Claims: Allegations of cannabis links to 25/41 cancers echo the 1930s film Reefer Madness. NASEM found moderate evidence of no association with lung/oropharyngeal cancers; co-use of tobacco/alcohol (common in cannabis use disorder) explains more harm. Immunotherapy Interaction: Cited negative study on cannabis immunotherapy has methodological flaws and has been contradicted by later research showing no worse outcomes. Overall Assessment: The paper is hypothesis-generating only (observational, no longitudinal patient tracking). ascopost.com/issues/june-10-…

Patients on prescribed medicinal cannabis reported massive gains in sleep, emotional control, motivation, relationships, and everyday joy within 6–12 months. It's a small study but many other larger studies find similar results. Big improvements reported: Better sleep Easier to manage emotions Improved relationships with others More motivation and energy Better ability to handle daily tasks Overall feeling of wellbeing pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/4226…

Again, regardless of how one feels about this, it's make cannabis more mainstream everyday. And that's a good thing! 😎
Days like today don’t happen by accident or in a vacuum. They happen after years of long days and nights, epic wins and just as epic losses. But mostly they happen because of a team of individuals who believe in the possible and make a decision to go all in. To each of you, who are the heart and soul of @Trulieve, you are the reason we have these days. Thank you, I remain so humbled and proud to get to be in the arena with you! Onward! 💚 $TRLV
