I spent the last 5 years in primary school learning programming.
I remember thinking in 2017 that as hard as this is, I don't see why this could not be done with AI. (it indeed was part of the reason why I never seriously pursued that profession)
Then ChatGPT came out in 2022, and even tho it wasn't that good, I knew this was it. (mind you I was still in an IT class in highschool)
I talked to a friend that works for an IT firm while visiting Korea in September. He was quite skeptical of AI as a whole.
Talked to him about a month back. The firm introduced Claude Code to him and his colleagues and they were quite amazed. Mind you these were the people that were extremely skeptical 6 months prior.
I also remember him mentioning that with this, he sees no reason to hire Junior programmers anymore.
That would have been me if I decided to pursue that profession seriously.
Now when you get a birds eye view of the whole thing you realize that probably in less than 5 years 90% of these people will be out of their jobs. Those that remain will be the most capable ones utilizing AI to make an equivalent of what would have been a team of thousands of people on their own.
People indeed don't like to take a birds eye view, cause it forces them out of their safe spaces.
As you can see gentleman, times are changing fast. Faster than ever in human history.
Change brings opportunity.
Some will rise, some will fall.
But what all of us can do is smile at the outcome anyways.
That seems to be the only thing we have absolute control over.
