El Niño is officially here!
"There is a 63% chance of a very strong El Niño during November-January that would rank among the largest El Niño events in the historical record going back to 1950".
While an El Niño typically suppresses hurricane activity in the Atlantic basin, it also brings #Florida above average rainfall/severe weather in the fall/winter/spring. The winter impacts can be significant, as was the case during the winter of 1997-1998, with multiple severe weather events. See less
