Politics, Labour, Curling, Music, Film. Get political! The people we put in legislatures/parliaments are called 'elected reps'. Like them, WE are politicians.

Senators who don't understand how the Labour equation works and, because of that, are promoting and facilitating a race to the bottom, for workers. Truly shameful.
Workers are facing a crisis and their unions are fighting everyday to protect jobs. These Senators think it’s ok to exploit this very difficult moment and try to roll back workers rights. Capitulating to big corporations over workers. Just shameful.

To anyone who claims to support recovery: If you encourage people struggling with addiction to get help, rebuild their lives, and become productive members of society, but then judge them for their past, weaponize their mistakes, and try to tear them down when they succeed then you don't support recovery at all! As a recovering addict, I'm not surprised to see people attack Hunter Biden,or anyone who has rehabilitated their life because of past mistakes. This kind of stigma is one of the biggest reasons people are afraid to ask for help in the first place. Recovery should be celebrated, not used against someone because you don't like their opinions, politics, or beliefs!

"It is obvious that the intent is to privatize water in Ontario, and this, as we know from countless international examples, is a disaster in the making." Avi Lewis responds to the Ford government’s move to strip municipalities of control over water infrastructure, handing it to newly created water corporations.

Cuba is out of fuel, strangled by the US fuel chokehold. People are dying, systems are breaking down. This is collective punishment against a people who have done absolutely nothing except live their lives under hard conditions imposed by the US blockade for decades. It’s a blatant violation of international law, a crime in progress. Canadians are connected to Cuba: we’ve been welcomed, had great holidays, heard incredible music, done business and made friends. We need to help Cuba right now, even if it bothers Trump: Canada should send immediate humanitarian fuel aid, in as much quantity as we can quickly assemble. And we should be speaking out loudly on the international stage: US military action against Cuba is absolutely unacceptable! It’s time for the countries of the world to rally and stop this impunity before it takes another sovereign country into chaos. We have to come to Cuba's aid. What's happening is too cruel, too horrible.

Trump's 'deal' with Iran was another fake, gas prices are heading back up. In today's @TheTyee I ask the obvious question: why is there NO connection between the cost of producing gasoline in Canada, and what it sells for: thetyee.ca/Analysis/2026/05/…. #cdnecon #canlab /2

Putting the common good over profit is the essence of socialism. Putting profit over people is the essence of capitalism. Without corporate media influence, people choose socialism over capitalism. This is why 6 corporations own 90% of the media to ensure people never wake up.

Scott Galloway just absolutely torched Jeff Bezos for trying to deflect from paying a wealth tax. Billionaires always say: “If you tax us, innovation will die.” Meanwhile workers are paying income tax on every paycheque while billionaires borrow against stock, avoid selling assets, and watch their wealth explode tax-light!

The ICJ has made it clear: the right to strike is a fundamental right. Any government that undermines that right is undermining workers’ freedom and democracy itself. This is a historic victory for workers around the world.’   ✊

A Lithuanian farmer discovered a church bell buried for 82 years while working his field. Cast in 1908, locals buried it in 1942 to protect it from Soviet forces who melted church bells into weapons. It came out of the ground perfectly preserved.

You see recurrent versions of this everywhere, i.e. the idea people get more conservative as they get older. This is broadly true of exactly one generation blessed to grow up with shared prosperity and a welfare state that then decided no one else deserved those things.
#BREAKING Australian actress Holly Valance says that everyone “starts out as a lefty” But then you “wake up” when you try to “run a business or buy a home” “And then you realise how crap their ideas are” Hard to argue, Holly.
