Do you think you're a good listener?
Learning how to listen, I mean ‘really’ listen, changed the game for me. It positively impacts all aspects of your life, be that business, relationships and personal growth (the last one is about really listening to yourself).
Beyond active listening…
👂 Deep Listening:
➡️ Mindset: See through the eyes of the person in front of you. Immerse yourself in the other person's perspective. If you're a leader, it's essential.
➡️ Facts, Feelings, Intentions: Listen to what’s being said, but go beyond the words. Pay attention to the feelings you observe and any intentions you pick up. Often what’s being said isn’t what’s being said.
➡️ Sideline Your Agenda: Get outside of your own head. Put your personal goals on pause to genuinely focus on what the other person is saying. What do they want and need, and how are they trying to meet those needs?
🚀 The Benefits:
➡️ Feeling Heard: When people feel heard, trust and connection are built.
➡️ Better Leadership: As a leader, understanding your team at a deep level opens doors for customised development opportunities.
➡️ Increased Commitment: When people feel truly listened to, they're more likely to stay engaged and committed to tasks.
If you want to have a greater impact, practice this for yourself and share it with your team.
🔥 Action: For your next conversation, consciously practice Deep Listening. Remember, it’s a skill, so to get good, practice = progress.
You might be surprised at how much you've been missing.
