Congratulations to the brilliant @BuxtonFestival team for putting on an amazing 2024 festival. Well done to all the staff, interns, volunteers, performers, speakers and production team for all their efforts. Great feedback from our loyal audience. Take a bow everyone! @BifJazz

Sad to hear death of Lord Roy Hattersley. In addition to his political career, a great Chair of @BuxtonFestival. Met him number of times after I joined the Board. Condolences to his wife Maggie. (Blurry photo taken during the 2015 festival with the late Sir Gerald Kaufman)

“Unforgettable” from Chester Harriott. No wonder Rosemary shot David Hunter at the end of the episode 🤣🤣
Sticking with a musical theme, here is Ainsley Harriott's father Chester, tinkling in the motel function room at David and Barbara's engagement party. Chester also performed 'Unforgettable' as an instrumental live over the closing captions.

This week is Volunteers Week, an annual UK-wide campaign to celebrate and recognise the contributions of volunteers. Proud to have volunteered as a trustee of the @BuxtonFestival since 2018 and @MusicintheRound since 2021. Congratulations to all the volunteers out there.

Very sad to hear the death of Dame Felicity Lott. One of our greatest sopranos, I had the pleasure of seeing her perform a number of times. It was a great pleasure to meet her in 2019 at the @BuxtonFestival Autumn Weekend where she performed Poulenc’s La Voix Humaine. RIP Flott.

“Keep the D-G in for Christ’s sake.” 😂
I give you the golden age of UK telly. There were quite a few blokes like this around when @StephenMoss_TV and I joined the BBC in 1982. And some similar women too to be fair. I well remember the truly formidable Biddy Baxter yelling on network talkback when I worked the live Look North gallery in Newcastle. God help you if you snipped ten seconds off the end of her Blue Peter!

#OnThisDay 18 March 1983 Ailing breakfast TV station TV-am is front page news, as chairman Peter Jay is forced out. Presenter Angela Rippon is not happy and Anna Ford famously speaks of "treachery" inside the company.

Truly dreadful customer service from @EE Sheffield The Moor. Been a customer since 1999 (when it was One-2-One). No more! Clearly EE don’t care about customer loyalty. I will take my money elsewhere. #EpicFail #Disgrace

The saddest day in ITV’s history when the greatest ITV company Thames Television was replaced by Carlton, the worst company ever in the history of ITV.

It’s 35 years since the great Saint & Greavsie gave us their Christmas special, and it was one of their all-time classic episodes. With Jimmy Greaves suffering from flu, they brought the Spitting Image Greavsie puppet into the studio, with Peter Brackley doing the Greavsie voice. With loads of laughs and gags, it was an all-time classic. RIP Lads.

The revelation of who shot JR was made today in 1980, shown on BBC1 the day after CBS. Angela Rippon editorialises.

Remembering my favourite singer-songwriter, the late and very talented Jackie Trent, who would have been 85 today. Pictured here back in 2015 with her son Darren and daughter Michelle, a couple of months after her death.

Truly terrible service from @DHLexpress @dhlexpressuk Wait in for a parcel and then the driver can’t be bothered to ring your doorbell before saying no one was in to receive it. Truly shameful customer service. Apalling.
