Very well deserved. I have read many essays and books about Justinian starting with my first course in Byzantine history at U. of Michigan in 1972. @peter_sarris work is the most comprehensive and balanced history that I have read. And it is elegantly written. Congrats!
Totally bowled over that ‘Justinian’ has won the London Hellenic Prize against stiff competition from over 150 wonderful entrants! It is a huge honour to be reckoned alongside such past winners as @19Averil , Mark Mazower, Peter Parsons et al. Amazing news!

#NFTNYC2024 #nft One of the most interesting developments is the revival of secondary royalties for NFTs enabled by the Dencun upgrade to Ethereum permitting the implementation of ERC721C standard for automatic enforcement of royalties.

OpenSea has already announced support for this standard and it opens up exciting new business models for NFT projects. It will be interesting to see if this new opportunity will be adopted by future projects.

Once again @HaileyLennonBTC has insulted @stephendpalley by failing to specify whether the eel was anago (salt water eel) or unagi (fresh water eel). @stephendpalley is very specific in his selection of eel

Gary is unique in the scope of his ambitions. You can’t trust those states.
'you might think corporate governance is a matter of state law, but let me tell you why I should be allowed to dictate all that too' seems like Gensler's entire tenure has been about expanding SEC power where will it end lol

It is excellent so far, up to Chapter 3. Thanks @peter_sarris
Finally, I got my copy of @peter_sarris´s wonderful new book on #Justinian - a fascinating reading, and I am honoured to see myself even cited, due to the author´s manifold language skills ;)

#cryptolaw #XRP Great thread by one of the leading crypto lawyers and a reminder that the SEC does not have the final say.

Very impressive story of politics in the sixth century!
The general Sittas was slain in 539 by Artabanes of the Arsacid family, an Armenian who had a remarkable career. In an odd twist of fate, Artabanes later took Sittas' old job in the Roman army. This 🧵 is about Artabanes. #Roman #Byzantine #Armenia 🇦🇲 #History

1/ #GunControl #JapanMilitaryHistory Sorry, @EugeneProko has the story wrong. The limitation on guns was based on reducing power of the feudal lords by the shogunate, with a modest "moral" component. And it was not complete washingtonpost.com/archive/e…

Rejection of firearms: The samurai-controlled government imposed restrictions on gun production, eventually leading to Japan being almost without functional guns. This left them vulnerable until Commodore Perry's visit in 1853. #GunControl #JapanMilitaryHistory
