Went to the beach with my oils, early morning for the breaking light in the dark winter sky. I do like the challenge of painting atmosphere. The weather has been so bad down here on the south coast of the U.K. So the atmosphere did not disappoint- it was moody!
Weβve been blessed with rain βοΈ wind and darkness here today on the South Coast. So I took myself first thing down to my favourite beach. The light through the winter clouds was lovely. Always after painting the mood!

Looking over the drying wall. Some urban oil plein airs painted in the January/ February light. The locations range from Monmouth, Hay on Wye and Arundel. The winter light has been so lovely to catch on the buildings. instagram.com/reel/C3iPS6Oolβ¦

Another oil Plein air from my time in Wales. They had diverted the traffic for road works around Hay-on-Wye so I was able to catch this unusually quiet spot outside my favourite cafe the Granary. It was a dull very late afternoon in January and I loved the flat grey light.
