I don’t think that place would have had a crowd even if they DID have the game on TV. It’s a dumb remake. Now, if it was still Barbary Coast, with the food and gambling options they had, the place would have been packed. @LasVegasLocally

Vanderpump (née Cromwell) empty last night at 7:30. Not having the game on the TVs was a problem.

Yup, recent rumors indicate the below will likely happen. Let MGM finally rip-off that bandaid, and rid themselves of a thing still popular with many. Hoping one or more of the locals joints fills-in the gap. (Talkin’ to you, Orleans.) @LasVegasLocally
The MGM ones, to finish the job: Excalibur, Cosmo and Bellagio. It’ll happen soon too. Caesars will stay, but increase in-price to $125. Folks will still line-up, thinking it’s a bargain. @LasVegasLocally

According to Barry Diller, CEO of the company making an offer to purchase MGM Resorts: “We believe MGM's management team is superb…” See why we’re not two excited about these casino brand purchases? @LasVegasLocally

Renovate; not every piece of the city’s history needs to go away.
Renovate Commercial Center for $16 million or tear it down for $4 million? That's the choice Clark County commissioners will make. #8NN 8newsnow.com/news/local-news…

With the closure of Tony Roma’s, the Fremont Hotel & Casino becomes the second Las Vegas hotel/casino (along with Golden Gate) with no restaurants. (Yes, Fremont has a food court, but so does your local mall.)

I have absolutely no idea how they’re building a ramp in what is now a very limited space.
Caesars Palace is constructing the world's most interesting fountain-jumping ramp.

Unbelievable; what the heck happened? I remember when all three properties there were packed. (They obviously were; otherwise, there wouldn’t be three properties. Guessing some is due to a changing market, but also guessing due to newer owners running the place into the ground.
Primm's neon is going dark, possibly forever. The Primadonna Company is permanently shuttering all of its casino resorts in the small town near the California border — including Primm Valley, Buffalo Bill's, and Whiskey Pete's on July 4, 2026. Truly the end of an era.

Yup, when you have accountants running the show, you no longer have any interest In making money. All you want to do is save it. (It’s how a lot of companies end-up going out of business.)
Big shakeup at The Westgate SuperBook. Usually upper management with fancy college degrees (who never gambled before) at these corporations look at salaries and make drastic cuts that will cost them money in the end. Fantastic episode youtu.be/NXyah8jio70?si=DUsR…

If the new ownership group at Rio Las Vegas is smart (way too soon to tell), they’ll bring back its buffet. @LasVegasLocally

Which Vegas area casino will be the next one to shut down its buffet?

Always sad when yet another buffet closes, but MGM Grand’s has been lousy for over three decades.
Friday afternoon news release from @MGMResortsIntl (Often referred to in our business as "taking out the trash" - Waiting until Friday afternoon to post bad news.) MGM Grand Las Vegas will permanently close its buffet after May 31. No reason given. @TheNVIndy

Hard to avoid resort fees, but easy to avoid paid parking. The ONLY way to affect change is to vote with your wallets; simply complaining isn’t going to do it. @LasVegasLocally
It is truly incredible that people are STILL going on the internet everyday and complaining about report fees and paid parking in Las Vegas

Hopefully, not being replaced with Le White Castle.
Le Cirque at Bellagio will permanently close after dinner service on Sunday, August 23. The venue will transition into a new culinary concept anticipated to open in mid-2027. #LasVegas

Its hotel expansion from several years ago didn’t made any sense back then, made even more clear by this default.
Downtown Grand sale likely after loan default lands Las Vegas hotel in receivership. The Downtown Grand hotel-casino will be sold off after it was placed in receivership early this year. The 1,124-room hotel-casino at 3rd Street and Ogden Avenue continues to operate as a court-appointed receiver controls the property after owners defaulted on a $90 million construction loan. -8newsnow #commercialrealestate

The Rio reboot is a failure; can we all agree? Location is often cited as its weak point but, if you were around when the property first opened, you know the excitement that was once there, no longer is. That excitement was what brought the customer in. Things like its (more)

Masquerade Tower rehab has stalled. Did ownership overpay for the devastation Caesars left behind when the latter sold it? Probably. And, credit where credit is due, the casino has recently become more-aggressive in its marketing efforts. The Rio, without a deep-pockets (more)
