I'm hearing some wild misinformation being spread by some opponents of SB 213 today. To clear it up - no, nothing in SB 213 requires cities to shut down commercial development along transit corridors. To quote actual bill language (1/2):
So far, the main arguments against SB-213 is that local governments can best address the housing crisis. But we have a housing crisis, so it’s clear the current approach is not working. #morehousingnow#reducesprawl#preventdisplacement
Senator Kirkmeyer, in particular, is concerned about input from neighbors. But the hyperlocalized process that prioritizes NIMBY voices has proven a huge impediment for creating more housing. #morehousingnow#reducesprawl#preventdisplacement
