Prof Matthew Spittal @unimelbMSPGH speaking on real-time suicide registers. These code a minimum amount of data very quickly, though less accurate for overdoses, where determining intent is trickier; doesn't replace coroners' processes.
Prof Matthew Spittal @unimelbMSPGH. AI unlikely to ever be useful for predicting suicide or self-harm, especially the short-term 24-48 hour window which Emergency Dept doctors might be interested in.
Prof Matthew Spittal @unimelbMSPGH on AI prediction for suicide prevention. Causes of suicide self-harm are complex interactions. AI delivered interventions may be more useful than AI predictive modelling.
Interesting talk y'day from Kiwi Prof Matthew Spittal of @MelbUni on AI prediction & real-time data for suicide prevention. Renewed interest in suicide prediction driven by availability of health data in USA, but we favour mh assessments to reduce risks for all vs prediction.
