I've been a math educator since 2003 and Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics by @pgliljedahl has more potential to improve the way we teach mathematics than any other book I have ever read.
I wrote a blog post to share why we should all read it:

Oh my gosh. I just realized something. Memorizing multiplication facts is not just pointless, it could actually hamper a student's ability to reason later on. If a student doesn't understand that 4x3 is equal to 4 4 4 or 3 3 3 3, then OF COURSE they don't understand why a a=2a.
I know we are all teaching and learning under unprecedented circumstances but if you can, allow your students to do some #MathPlay. You will not be disappointed with the results, here are a few examples via @Desmos from precalc ss at #WeAreChappaqua#MTBoS#ITeachMath#MathisFun
