They can't comprehend because, even if there's 1 bad characterization of whiteness, there are ONE HUNDRED other characters in the book. Even when the villain in the TV show is white, so is the hero...And the hero's sidekick...And the lawyer...And the cop...And judge...

This year is hard. My goals are to be kind to my students, coworkers, and self. My kindness will not wear itself in a smile, but in compassion & honesty. I am not here to be a superhero. We will learn math in a space that is safe enough to acknowledge the burdens carried into it.

Kid scores 100% on a retest... Only given a 70%. For what possible justification do we put scores in the gradebook that do not match what a student knows?
Here is some research for you "there is no average time to learn something" and each kid isn't the same so why act like it
