Test rugby schedules? Have we asked too much of our @Wallabies in 2025 with 15 Tests in 140 days / a Test every 9.3 days? Q. How does that compare? A. Unfavourably.
Drove Sydney-Tamworth-Sydney yesterday. When did NSW remove speed limits for tradie trucks / utes and 'P' platers of both colours? Asking for a friend.
If you are a Wallaby fan, this excellent post from @SquidgeRugby should resonate deeply. You can sub in Australia for Wales and the storyline doesn't lose a beat especially these two statements: "Wales problem is not producing talent, it is keeping....

In 2019, Wales were the number one rugby team in the world. Five years later, they were on an 18-match, 2-year losing streak with no hope in sight. This is the story of how negligence, incompetence, and austerity tore apart one of rugby's proudest nations-

No Mr Waugh, @wallabies don't need more Tests, they need: - 1) more WINS; & 2) a LESS intense international schedule. No other team in 2025 averaged less days per Test - AUS 9.3 days vs. ENG 22.7, SCO 24.6, IRE 26.7 & FRA 26.8. Stop flogging them.

For @wallabies to be a #RWC2027 contender they MUST improve their defence. Many fans / commentators have said the passive / soak strategy isn't working. Here's proof.
2025 @wallabies scoring summary tells the tale of the tape.....
Tries: For 48 v Against 50
Conv: For 35 v Against 31
BUT
Penalties: For 9 v Against 32
TEdmed's 18th minute missed penalty goal vs FRA was the only PG attempt of the five match tour.
Defence remains one of the big bugbears for @wallabies . Australia have played 28 Tests since RWC23. In 16 of those 28 we've conceded four or more tries. Our record: W 3 L 13. Whatever we are doing is simply not working.
Q. Has a Test team definitively built depth if one player: - 1) is about to finish his third international season; 2) has tallied 509 minutes on the field; 3) has 1 Test of >40 mins, 4 x 40 mins 8 x <20 mins for an average of 27 minutes per game?
#FRAvAUS for the first time since 08/2023. AUS have played 31 Tests in the interim. Just five survivors for AUS, notably all are forwards. For FRA there are 9, all be it no ADupont. Two years is a LONG time in footy.
#FRAvAUS preview
* Last 5: LLWLW / Last 5 in FRA: LLWLL
* FRA run-on XV is ~9 caps/man more experienced BUT the XXIII spread is 1/2 a cap.
* FRA backs have won 2x as many caps
* <10 caps = FRA 9 v AUS 6
* 7 of those FRA 9 are on the bench

Of all the Australian rugby stats, the one that stuns me more than any other is this: Since MCheika took over as coach in 2014 we've picked the same starting XV in back-to-back Tests just THREE times. Across 138 matches.

The lost decade of Hookers must be also be in the conversation. TPolota-Nau achieved his 20th starting cap v. WAL - 4 2012 (Match #548). Since then, FFainga'a is the only other #2 to record his 20th. N.B. SMoore & TP-N played until 2017 & 19 respectively

Much is made of @wallabies lost decade of fly-halves however the lock position is a VERY close second. No Australian has reached 40 Tests at lock since RSimmons v FRA-3 2014 (Match #566) & only two actives, IRodda & NFrost (31), have started >20. We play Match #711 in Dublin.
