Delighted to see the world's first-ever mRNA norovirus vaccine entering trials in the UK. This is a big step forward in protecting people and easing the pressure on the NHS during winter.
A world-first vaccine for the winter vomiting bug norovirus will be trialled on NHS patients, in a breakthrough that could prevent thousands of hospital admissions each year ⬇️ thetimes.com/uk/society/arti…

There is a large group of voters who feel increasingly disconnected from today’s political choices - turned off by populism and looking for competence and realism. Prosper UK has been formed to support a Conservative Party that is focused on growth, opportunity and responsible government, with respect for our institutions. There are millions of people across the UK who feel that no political party really represents them. @andy4wm and I will be on @bbclaurak tomorrow morning with plans to reach as many of them as possible.

Hugely excited about this. Andy and Ruth have shown they know how to win outside 'natural' Conservative territory. I hope my former colleagues will listen to what they have to say thetimes.com/uk/politics/art…

Valthos builds next-generation biodefense. Of all AI applications, biotechnology has the highest upside and most catastrophic downside. Heroes at the frontlines of biodefense are working every day to protect the world against the worst case. But the pace of biotech is against them: more powerful methods to design biological systems, with near-universal access, open up an increasing surface area of threats. In this new world, the only way forward is to be faster. So we set out to build the tech stack for biodefense. Our team of computational biologists and software engineers applies frontier AI to identify biological threats and update medical countermeasures in real-time. We are backed by $30M from @OpenAI, @Lux_Capital, @foundersfund and others including @Definition_Cap. We are actively hiring engineers to join in the mission - if that sounds like you, get in touch.

To understand why today’s vote by MPs in favour of Assisted Dying matters, please watch this video
David Minns' last request to me as his MP was to tell his story so others don't have to suffer like he did. Sadly, the law didn't change in time for David, but it could be changed in time to help countless others. Listen to his story 👇 👇 linkedin.com/posts/matthanco…

I’m delighted MPs have voted decisively in favour of changing the law on Assisted Dying to allow people with terminal illness to die with dignity. This is a major liberal reform to alleviate suffering at the end of life.

Following the huge success of this trial, the NHS should adopt self-testing for cervical cancer. Before Covid, the system was reluctant to rely on self-testing, but the pandemic proved we needn't be, and these trial results prove that once again. bbc.com/news/articles/cjk3z5…

2. The fight to secure the life-changing cystic fibrosis drug Orkambi for the NHS is something we should be so proud of as a country. Being in government is an immense privilege because it gives us the opportunity to make decisions that can transform lives.

3. It’s moments like these that truly highlight why serving in public office has been such an honour for me. Huge thanks to all who supported me as Health Sec to get this through. Little Dexter's life - as well as thousands of others - will be turned around because of you.
