👀 Hey, hey, 10K! - a milestone day for Section Star. Sorry, ya'll. I have no secret formula to share. I just built a thing and kept making it better. Thanks Shopify for making a great place to build. apps.shopify.com/sections-ai

Easy win to make the Shopify dev dashboard better: show the name of the shop in the logs not just the shop id.

Every category has a Hoppy. Some of the biggest apps were a Hoppy.

I tried Fable when it was still available and it was ok. Seemed a step up but still did not completely understand my code base and still made dumb errors.

They're back at it. Seriously Shopify you should ban those people. You already left them a chance. first thread by Erikas a few weeks ago x.com/malisauskasLT/status/2… me, yesterday about them stealing everything 1-1 : x.com/charlesmdp/status/2065… a screenshot freshly taken for the very thing they were unlisted for a few days :
I filed a DMCA complaint against a copycat (1 to 1) of my app, and @Shopify's response was: "We are unable to take action as the reported content is not hosted by Shopify." But this is a Shopify app embed. It's built for Shopify. It's listed in the Shopify ecosystem and is supposed to meet Shopify BFS's standards. To be clear: I'm all for competition. I'm all for other developers taking inspiration from existing products, building similar features, and improving them with their own twist. That's how software evolves. What I'm not okay with is a straight copy-paste. The entire app is a copy-paste of Cowlendar. For this DMCA, I was honestly lazy and only attached six screenshots. In reality, every single screen in their app is a clone of ours. The only places where the products differ are where we've since updated Cowlendar. If I dig up old commits, I can show that their app matched ours screen-for-screen. What's even more surprising is that some of their screenshots appear to have been taken directly from our app. They're showcasing features they don't even have. I repeat : inside their app, there are screenshot of MY app showcasing features they don't have. How does this pass review, and why is Shopify's legal team completely fine with it? I'm talking about this partner, which I believe several partners were discussing a few weeks ago: apps.shopify.com/partners/ho…

My favorite Claude feature is when it writes code that has a security vulnerability and then tells you about it during code review.

Now that AI can run wild on Shopify themes can we open back up the theme APIs for apps. I would much rather use sections over app blocks. More configurable and a lot fewer limitations!

1. 341 new Shopify apps launched in the past 7 days (May 30–Jun 5). Down from 499 the week before, the 4th straight weekly drop. The 900 spike in early May was a backlog clearing after AI-assisted review, not a new baseline. We’re watching it deflate. My read: fewer apps, same crowded categories. The flood is rolling over, not reversing.

Claude 100% believes that enabling expiring tokens requires a Shopify dashboard setting update. I have to constantly remind it that is not the case.

Replying to @Shopify
@Shopify is down and it’s telling everyone our store is gone. This is by far the worst message to show customers during an outage shopifystatus.com

I personally think to be successful with AI you have to develop an independent taste or opinion outside of it. Because AI will do exactly what you ask of it. It will try to make you happy. But it has no sense of taste … what is good and bad.
The Besties Discuss the First Class of AI Natives Coming Out of College: “They’re Totally Cracked” Sacks: “With respect to new college grads, I think the single most marketable skill in the economy right now has got to be proficiency in Claude.” Bill Gurley: “It's not just tech or programming. If you're in marketing, if you're in legal, if you're in accounting, sales, if you're the most AI savvy person of all your peers, you are golden.” Jason: “You're 10X more valuable than the next person who's not.” Chamath: “They're totally cracked.”

It is becoming increasingly obvious that the companies that grow headcount because of AI are going to be the winners. The companies reducing headcount are just treading to stay alive.

I can state with 100% certainty that no one knows this list scrolls. Zero affordance.

With Shopify reviews being a hot topic right now, I've got some good news! Checkout Plus just passed 100 reviews at a 5 star rating! And I can confidently say that everyone of these reviews are genuine and hard earned! While some do come from shameless support conversations, I can still say I am proud to have hit this milestone!

This Shopify app was clearly buying fake 5-star reviews and then didn't pay someone, so they got spammed with 1-star reviews instead which tanked their rating to 2.9 🤣 I have no idea how it passed through Shopify review approval system and got published. Anyone else feeling the new review purge coming? 🤣

Gaming reviews on the Shopify app store is not new. This is a post I made almost a year ago. What happened since then? My app went from #2 in the category to #5. The three apps that past me ... all gamed reviews by offering incentives in exchange for reviews. Receipts are in the reviews.

Ya'll this is not a HARD problem. You can tell why the reviews were left just by reading them.
