Hi friends, hope you’ve been well. When trying to dive deep into the WNBA, I found a void where I wanted advanced analytics tools to be. I built a site that tries to communicate the previously-unquantified impact in WNBA basketball. This is Help the Helper helpthehelper.vercel.app

One thing I'd recommend to folks getting into prospect scouting is to watch film where your context is limited--both where you have limited priors and where you have limited access to opinions of others. This helps with developing "taste." I found HS/AAU valuable for this

I think opponent shot profile is such an important defensive indicator, so I've been trying to develop some rim protection metrics. 2025 Valkyries are giving me some trouble lol

Very much crossing my fingers that this site does not crash

2. wRAPM will inherently be noisy. I’ve employed some techniques to try to stabilize it, but the WNBA season is short. I’m still undecided on how I’ll present in-season data, but wRAPM comes with all the usual caveats about impact metrics plus seasons (and games) are shorter

3. I’m not a data scientist. My qualifications for building this site are that I wanted to, had the time, and know a thing or two about basketball (plus what a ridge regression is). I put a lot of effort into making sure everything is right, but take it with a grain of salt
