With great happiness I want to say: my book “The Red Hot Chili Peppers 1983-1990: EMI Years” is out now. Although I wrote it in 4 months, it took me over 20 years to collect the info in total. I wrote it with great love & hope some of you will find it worth your attention
Just realised that this moment from Jungle Man misic video is most likely a part of a vintage tv ad, not the actual band’s footage from 1980s. I guess it was aired during Thicke of the night, so Lindy Goetz liked it and used
Just learned that the incredible 1980 Anthym footage was discovered because of me too. I gave the creators contacts for an archive, and it turns out that archive contained it. I feel like a squirrel buried nuts, forgot about it, came back later & a magnificent forest had grown
Listening to unreleased 1984 demo of “Brothers Cup” with Jack Sherman on guitar was a crazy, fantastic moment. Such an avant-garde version of the track. Wish it was released. That’s one more proof why this version of RHCP is my favourite - a crazy mix of funk, jazz, fusion.
Since James Slovak began to write his RHCP book, I decided to talk with Hamish Duncan about my own forthcoming RHCP book, about co-translating @flea333’ s book, about the importance of archival work, ethics of writing biographies & bullying in fandom buttondown.com/rhcpsessions/…
38 years ago today, on June 4, 1988, @chilipeppers played their final show with Slovak and Irons at Provinssirock in Seinäjoki, Finland. It was also the last performance of Hillel’s life. The day after the show, he returned home, and just three weeks later, tragedy struck.
Finally I became a proud owner of this fantastic record. Pretty sure there is only one signed copy of “Honora” in my city. I obtained it in April & after travelling through 4 countries the record is finally in my house. I absolutely love it. Thank you @flea333 , love & respect

Had a great conversation with legendary Alain Johannes just 30 minutes ago. Alain kindly agreed to answer some of my questions for the upgraded version of my forthcoming book “The Red Hot Chili Peppers: EMI years 1983-1990” & provided some very interesting details
Eddie Van Halen & @flea333, November 1990. I’ve seen a different picture from the same day many times, but discovered this one only yesterday. Both Hillel & JF used to have the same Hendrix t-shirt in 1980s
The profit of being 39 year old is that 20 years old girls still call you “a cute boy” & 20 minutes later 45 year old lady asking you for a cigarette clearly showing her interest. I never considered myself a handsome dude & never saw any ladies’ interest in my 20s, I was wrong
Showing the people mentioned in the book parts of it is really weird. For sure it’s good everyone is happy that they or their relatives are not described in a negative way, but it’s still a long & hard process to correct the facts they need to see corrected. But it’s still great
Rest in peace Karyn Balzary. Wonderful person. We used to talk a couple of times and she was very kind. Karyn & Flea sometime in 1993. Biggest condolences to Michael & Gavin
The book is fully translated, two more interviews to make it more detailed will be added the next week, then - the corrector’s work and that’s it. A demo version of the possible cover art for it. Cannot wait
Wishing @flea333 all the best for his first show of the European leg of “Honora” tour ❤️ A photo by Christopher Kehoe, November 26, 1989 right in the middle of “Mother’s Milk” tour, which was used for “Spin” cover in 1990
July 1991, photo by Jason Beck around the time the band finished BSSM sessions. July-August 1991 was full of photo sessions (Brad Fierce, Sandra Johnson, Robert Matheu, Mark Leialoha, Chris Cuffaro, Mike Hashimoto etc), not sure if the band ever posed so often before Summer’91.
Back in the 1980s, @flea333 appeared as an actor in several movies and music videos — so here’s a compilation of those moments. Actually, he didn’t really act — he was just being himself: wild and charismatic
60 years ago a masterpiece was released. 10 years ago I was lucky enough to get my cd signed by Mike, Bruce & Brian, Al is still needed here though. Great memories
