Doing our cash flow and farm projections for the next 12m at the moment. Thought i’d share it in a basic form so people get an understanding the vital role ag play is in local economy’s. Please share, especially with Labour MPs… Thankyou.

My little brother asked me why everything suddenly seems so fucked - and this is about as simple an answer as I could give.

Some pure-quality fish & shellfish on the counters this morning. That Scottish Halibut looks pretty special though.

For 50 years supermarkets have trained consumers to think that price matters most. Chicken is cheap because supermarkets demand it. The majority of consumers now prize low price (even people on good incomes). Consumers in the English-speaking countries also value big portion sizes and that also keeps them focused on price. Portion sizes in the UK are always shocking - double what goes on the plate in France. It’s not a “food system” problem, it’s a food culture problem.

This message is stupid She says the system of farming and land clearance costs are bigger than transport of finished foodstuffs Yeh - that’s why you need to buy local and shape the food systems you eat from to make them sustainable We have zero control of distant farmlands

Thank you @parkersarms for asking us to sponsor the coffee @Top50Gastropubs The food was stunning, with the best fish pie ever, served beautifully despite adverse conditions. Wonderful to share a table with @CuckooGin & @mayersfish showcasing Lancashire to the rest of the UK!

Every city, town, village, community, high street, is now being affected by Hospitality closures. We’re witnessing closures like we’ve never seen before. A VAT REDUCTION WOULD STOP THIS. We need everyone behind this, operators and especially the public. SAVE HOSPITALITY

Hand Dived Scallops from Orkney and some superb Day boat Red Gurnard from 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿. Perhaps my favourite shellfish & fish, both at their best. Scallops roasted in their shell with a buttery concoction and Gurnard fillets dropped into a fish tomato based stew/soup.

Fishing & Farming In safe hands I see.
Told Steve Barclay’s opening remarks to Defra staff wasn’t exactly a barnstormer. Asked about why the environment is important to him, he said ‘I have two dogs, I want them to have access to great landscapes’.

Not a bad effort considering the poor weather throughout this week. Although this is the easy job. All thanks to the hard working fishermen who make it possible!

Spot on! Please can we focus on the real problems we are all facing.
Like virtually everyone else, I know absolutely nothing about the events that have led to the statement by Huw Edwards’ wife. But I do know that he is a superb broadcaster. I know too that he has a long history of depression. He and I have spoken about it often, including in 1/4

One hundred per cent agreement with @GavinBarwell here - and the trees in Paris are a real example of what we could be achieving in London and aren’t!
Spent the last 36 hours in Paris. Every time I visit, I'm struck by how the French combine high density and beauty in their cities. Every trainee British planning officer should be required to visit. We don't have to build over our countryside to solve our housing crisis
