28 April 1943 | A transport of 3,070 Jewish men, women, and children deported from the ghetto in Thessaloniki in German-occupied Greece arrived at Auschwitz.
After the arrival selection, 180 men and 361 women were registered in the camp. The remaining 2,529 people were murdered in gas chambers.

Polish teachers & students participated in the March of Silence at the former German camp #Auschwitz. They commemorated all teachers and educators who died during World War 2.
The March took place on the 85th anniversary of the death of a teacher, Marian Batko, in Auschwitz.
Marian Batko, a physics teacher at the Odrowฤ
ลผ Gymnasium in Chorzรณw, voluntarily stepped out of the line during the first selection for starvation death at Auschwitz, as he wanted to go in place of another prisoner.
He died in the starvation cell on 27 April 1941.
