What does it mean to take ownership of your learning? A commitment to learning & understanding creates a more informed & compassionate community. We invite educators to consider how they will own their learning to teach in a way that honors their students' whole selves.
@luudisk
ALT “Let’s acknowledge that as adults, our learning is our responsibility. It is not the responsibility of another person to educate me. We own our learning, or we own our ignorance. It is that simple. If we were not taught what we need to know now, we can lament that fact, but we cannot use it as an excuse not to engage in the learning we can do today. If we choose not to learn, we are responsible for that choice.”
ALT We invite educators to consider how they will take ownership of their learning to ensure their students receive a quality education that honors their whole selves:
What does it look and feel like to take ownership of your learning?
What is your plan to fill any gaps in your understanding and knowledge to ensure you can provide each student an education that honors them?

I had the pleasure of working with Larry for a year when he was VP at MCM. Larry is an inspiring leader and deserves to be celebrated and recognized ♥️ #BlackExcellence
Thank you @BCPVPA for the opportunity to share my story. As always, I stand on the shoulders of so many mentors, colleagues, family and friends who have supported me and championed #BlackExcellence in many forms. 🙏🏾❤️
It’s not every day that you get a virtual visit from one of your fav Canadian authors ❤️ Thank you @DaveAlexRoberts for your humanity and the beautiful words you shared with all of our students. We can’t wait to read your new books 📚
Michael Fullen spoke to our cohort this morning and I am still in awe 😍 Having the opportunity to personally ask him about systems change in schools has me inspired and ready to make positive change for our learners ❤️ “Change starts at the bottom, not the top” MF
Amazing turnout for the Vancouver counter protest in the name of LGBTQ2S rights and inclusive ed. Some of our favourite signs ❤️ 🌈 #TransRightsAreHumanRights
Today is the hardest day of the year. Saying goodbye after building community and making connections is my least favourite part of the job. Today I had to say goodbye to a beautiful group of humans as they journey onto high school. Oh the places they will go ♥️
Knowing your students is one thing.
Your students knowing they are known, that is something entirely different.
For some scholars knowing they are seen, valued, and cared for makes the impossible possible, makes the excluded included, and makes the inequitable equitable.
PSS students planned and facilitated 30 sessions for Wellness Day. This was the Walk and Talk session, I was blown away by the thought and care that went into these questions for students to chat with their partners about. Seeing former students as inspiring leaders warms my ♥️
Thank you to Anona for being our keynote speaker to start off KVR’s 3rd Wellness Day ♥️ Anona shared a Syilx perspective on wellness and the importance of connecting to the one, reciprocity and gratitude 🌸
I love how she reframes these spiral
of inquiry questions:
1. Can every parent identity 2 educators that are listening with curiosity and empathy and who really believe in their child’s success?
2. What are WE learning about and why is it important?
In this article Kerri Steel illustrates how the decision framework can move educators & care givers beyond binary thinking to a place of empathy and understanding. @noiie_bc @LindaKaser @tweetsomemoore @bmooreintheloop telp-educ-2022.sites.olt.ubc…
