Last week in Scotland, LCEF caught up with Energy Consumers Minister @martinmccluskey on how this government is bringing down bills *and* working on Britain's energy security. Today's announcements cement this government's commitment to our green clean energy future 👇

Bumper week for energy security and clean energy ! Some big steps forward this week on the governments clean energy mission and industrial strategy - the boss has laid them out in this thread 👇
In a normal week, the Future Homes Standard launch would be a huge announcement in and of itself. This is a Lab Gov ensuring future housing stock come with solar panels and heat pumps as standard, helping tackle energy bills and bolstering our national energy security. 🧵

Having campaigned on the need for much stronger rules for solar and green tech in new homes, it’s great to see them included in the future homes standards ☀️ Lowering bills and cutting our reliance on polluting oil and gas, now that’s what I call a win win ✅

The UK is getting its first nacelle and hub factory in Scotland! This announcement means we're building out our offshore wind supply chain right at home - important as we start building the turbines from the record-breaking AR7 renewable energy auction. vestas.com/en/media/company-…

This is not an energy crisis, its an oil and gas crisis. Making the case here for a future of electrification and renewables... and not forgetting nuclear!

BANANA mindset comes when people ever-increasingly peddle and swallow the myth that it is immigration causing the housing shortage, and that we don't actually need to build anything new at all. Those committed to YIMBY-ism should be equally committed to dispelling this, imo!
Greens and Lib Dems most NIMBY voters confirmed. Reform and Tories most BANANA. 2024 Labour voters are the only YIMBY segment by this survey.

It was a real pleasure to have the @LCEF team in South Wales, visiting sustainability projects like our Radyr Hydro scheme ⚡🌊 It's a 400kW small-scale hydro station in #Cardiff, using the 3.5m drop at Radyr Weir to generate clean, renewable energy. 1/2
We were struck by the ambition of local leaders and industry working together to increase local resilience and deliver clean, homegrown energy for their communities - especially important as the need to wean ourselves off volatile fossil fuel markets becomes more acute.
