🎉This is a historic win for DC residents, and we could not be more proud to stand with @TzedekDC. The DC Council unanimously passed the Medical Debt Mitigation Amendment Act — banning medical debt from credit reports, capping interest rates, and requiring hospitals to screen patients for financial assistance before pursuing collections. Tzedek DC Disabilities Community Project Staff Attorney @mditkowsky urged the @councilofdc to strengthen the Language Access Act by explicitly including sign languages like ASL. This would expand DC agency requirements to support Deaf, hard of hearing, and DeafBlind residents.

I just signed a bill allowing seniors living in nursing homes to consume alcohol - so that everyone can enjoy happy hour!
