Temple and I were sad to hear of the passing of Greg Sharpe.
Greg in many ways represented the best of Nebraska and the University of Nebraska. I am grateful to Greg for the kindness that he extended to me and my family upon our arrival in Lincoln as Chancellor. His ability to capture an audience as a gifted story teller elevated the institution through the many topics that were brought to the forefront.
My interviews with Greg as part of his pregame Husker football broadcasts are interactions and fun banter that I will never forget. He had a unique way of making people feel comfortable and at ease. He was a kind, genuine, trusted friend and colleague to many. His spirit will live on at the University and in the hearts of all of us who loved and respected him .
To his wife, children and members of the family- thank you for sharing your husband and dad with us. We are better people because of Greg and we are grateful.
Rest in peace Greg, job well done!
For 17 years, Greg Sharpe spoke past the microphone and into our hearts.
His legacy will be woven into the moments he narrated and carried on through the relationships he built.
We are deeply saddened by Greg’s passing and send our deepest condolences to the Sharpe family.
