I've been hearing for years that immersion and hydro are the future. There's challenges to both but both have come a long way since I begin mining. One of the challenges of immersion and hydro is that there is so much less liquidity in the aftermarket to sell your units when you are looking to rotate out of them because there is a much smaller market of people running them. This means that the timeline on obsoletion of the units is a lot shorter than air cooled. When you are purchasing new units, it's smart to consider the resale possibility when you are done with them. There are benefits to immersion and hydro over air cooled mining but there is also higher infrastructure costs. It's a much harder sell when margins are thinner.
