One of the beautiful things about having my family at my med school graduation is that now my nephew knows that a doctor can have brown skin, speak Spanish at home, and come from a family that celebrates Christmas with tamales 🫔

During week 1 of residency, I heard a "psst!" as my team & I were leaving a patient's room. I turned around.
With a thumbs-up, the older woman we had just seen whispered to me, "You're doing great!"
I couldn't help but smile 🙂
