While branded entertainment isn’t new, financial pressure on the entertainment industry means that more filmmakers are open to working with brands, eliminating some of the industry’s stigma around sponsored projects, said @Tribeca Enterprises CEO Rebecca Glashow. adweek.it/3RZ7iHU

Minh’s market map has made it to the big screen
It’s been an entire year since we last published our last map, and so much has changed in the industry. Last year’s map had 100 companies listed, one year later, it’s over 250! More than double! I was literally up late yesterday still adding companies to the list. The space has expanded considerably, example: no one even heard of Higgsfield early last year. And others have disappeared, like Sora2, or pivoted, like Pika. I expect this to continue as the space evolves further. A few things worth noting before you dig into it: > yes, there are lots of logos, a shareable website is coming soon > we expanded the number of categories to reflect evolutions of the space > aggregators, in particular, have exploded in the last year > the amount of funding continues to go up, not down - the consolidation that many thought was coming has still not happened yet > the model companies have largely stayed the same for a year while startups battle in lots of niche areas > this map is only a taste of certain areas like AI ads and AI video games, which deserve their own maps > read our substack for more!

I think the Spotify disco logo is a win for the brand because people actually cared. A reaction is valuable. Companies update and change things every day and most people are completely indifferent.

Every brand wants their own Staples baddie
i interviewed the agency making “fan pages” for brands. secondary accounts that feel more like a rogue employee took over than a strategy. so far they’ve launched arby’s boys and not spirit airlines. the arby’s page generated over 100m organic views in the first six months.

I want streaming services to include the same metrics we have on social content - views, saved to watch list, number of shares, etc. Top 10 ranking is not enough.

Netflix has acquired interpositive, a start-up founded by Ben Affleck that makes AI-powered tools for filmmakers. • The system builds AI models from a film’s dailies to assist with postproduction tasks like color, relighting and VFX while keeping filmmakers “at the center of the process.” • Bela Bajaria, Netflix’s CCO, says the tech will provide creatives “more choices, more control and more protection for their vision.” wp.me/pc8uak-1lGYPw

It’s long been a dream of mine to feature the billboards of America, especially Silicon Valley and Los Angeles. They’re a great window into the marketing culture and what marketers think is effective messaging to the local culture and what’s hitting. It would have made a great Tumblr. In SF, it’s AI meets on-the-nose irony. In LA, it’s what shows and films want to matter and car accidents. In New York, it spans the gamut of new companies to fashion to f&b. So instead of making a Tumblr, I’ll just post a few of them here once in awhile. Hope you like. In this set: Airbnb has one of the best billboards in SF. Hands down. Always topical, funny, thoughtful, and creative. Figma: surprisingly not creative? I feel like the word “prompt” just shouldn’t be in ads. iPhone: once again underlining how much they’re not in AI. An ad from 2014 manages to make it into 2026.
