Happy publication day to Pockets of Love! Itβs illustrated by Sara Palacios, and written by me.
All my books are very special, but I wrote this one during a difficult time in the world.
We lost so many loved ones collectively, and in our family we lost 2 grandparents in the space of 5 months. With each loss, we grieved all our loved ones who had left us before. We always miss them, but never more than during happy moments (weddings, graduations, births and birthdays) and small, every day moments. My hope is that this book gives families the space and opportunity to remember their loved ones and perhaps have difficult conversations with the little kids in our lives, and also talk about the ways each family shows love and remembers, always, those who are too far away for a phone call or letter.
Every culture has their pockets of love, a delicious finger food that reminds us of home and happy times. Iβll be making some empanadas today ππ₯
