Narayanan Vaghul, esteemed former Managing Director of Bank of India, passed away at 88 in Chennai. A Padma Bhushan recipient, he was celebrated as the 'Bhishma Pitamah' of Indian banking for his pivotal role in establishing numerous financial institutions and promoting sustainable practices. Vaghul guided many banking professionals, including numerous women CEOs, and his innovative leadership significantly shaped modern Indian banking. As a mentor to generations of leaders in banking, corporate, and educational spheres, the BOI family will always be indebted to him.
