Over Christmas my son's dog brought out this worked and polished walking stick from bushes near the former aviary. No idea how it got there but thought it might be missed and you could give it some publicity?

Trees here are black walnut; sweet chestnut and cones on the beautiful cedar of Lebanon overlooking the lake...

There is still colour to enjoy. The white flowers of the blousy southern catalpa host a purple and gold corolla to attract pollinators; the tea of heaven hydrangea is a vibrant blue. Both will be around for a while yet. Not so the poppy, whose last leaves appear about to fall...

Meanwhile, after the rain some fungi are having a field day. This phenomenal flourish of mica ink-caps (Coprinellus micaceus) is enjoying the base of the dead 'Y' tree opposite the cafΓ©.
And back to poppies. Will Domino's be offering opium pizzas on its menu soon..? π€

Agree. LCC and LSSL are trying their best.
Sometimes it feels like a losing game against ppl who purposely litter (see pics from this eve). If we had a lot less of the inconsiderate visitors then we wouldnβt be talking about this now.
The problem lies with the litterers π

Even the extra bins are now getting piled up. This was taken about an hour ago. @lpool_LSSL we need the big Eurobins. It'll save you and the park's excellent litter picking volunteers do much unnecessary work across the summer in the long run!
