🚨 Debunking the Myth: Did Apartheid Kill “Millions” of Black People, as South African Black Youth Have Been Led to Believe 🚨
The belief held by some misguided people that apartheid murdered “millions” of Black people is a gross distortion of history.
Let’s look at the facts:
• From 1948 to 1994, approximately 21,000 people died due to political violence in South Africa.
• Between 1948 and 1983, 1,400 deaths were recorded due to political violence.
• From 1984, when the ANC launched its “People’s War” to eliminate Black opposition, violence escalated:
• 1984–1989: 5,600 deaths.
• 1990–1994 (after Mandela’s release and ANC unbanning): 14,000 deaths.
• Over 90% of these 21,000 deaths resulted from Black-on-Black violence, largely due to ANC conflicts with other Black groups.
• Only ~600 deaths (3%) were directly caused by the Apartheid government.
• Right-wing groups accounted for ~100 deaths (0.5%).
The narrative of “millions” killed by the Apartheid system is not supported by evidence. Political violence was tragic, but the majority stemmed from intra-group conflicts, not a genocidal campaign.
Let’s share the truth to correct this misunderstanding. 🕊️

Note: In South Africa, showing the old apartheid-era flag (1928–1994) in public is illegal and considered hate speech unless it’s for artistic, academic, or journalistic purposes. Private displays are a gray area but could also be seen as hate speech if visible to others.
However, you can chant the Kill the Boer song as much as you want.
