they are better. they got to spend time apart, yes. edd became more self-aware and developed some cognitive empathy and tom had to become independent in the few years he wasn't with edd. he got to realize that edd was kind of an asshole to him essentially.-

and tom was sent to capture him for almost destroying the universe. some conflict happens. it resolves. edd convinces tom to run away with him. hence these posters. (honestly my wtfuture lore deserves a whoooole separate post, I'll get to them later but this is enough for now)
