New preprint! Joint work w/ @haleykegl & @BadreLab. lPFC flexibly codes tasks of diff structure. How? We test 2 prevalant ideas 1) it uses a high dim, expressive geometry, agnostic to structure 2) it learns tailored geometries for each structure. tldr - Its 1, with an asterisk👇
Task structure tailors the geometry of neural representations in human lateral prefrontal cortex biorxiv.org/cgi/content/shor… #biorxiv_neursci

New preprint! doi.org/10.1101/2023.09.04.5… Our environments are complex and ever changing. We report behavioral data and neural network simulations showing that, in multidimensional environments, humans adapt attentional control in a dimension-specific way. w/@wouterkool ↓ 1/11

Excited to share the final chapter of my thesis! 🔖 biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/… We wanted to understand how the brain can simultaneously coordinate multiple streams of information processing, and found it uses orthogonal attention subspaces. 🧵⬇️

🚨🚨🚨#TWEEPRINT TIME🚨🚨🚨 A big mystery in brain research is what are the neural mechanisms that drive individual differences in higher order cognitive processes. Here we present a new theoretical framework w/ @brody_lab @mikio_aoi @SussilloDavid @ValerioMante @jpillowtime 1/16
A new theoretical framework jointly explains behavioral and neural variability across subjects performing flexible decision-making biorxiv.org/cgi/content/shor… #biorxiv_neursci

Hey, want to hear something cool? Jeff Zacks and I are jointly recruiting a postdoc. This is truly a unique and cool position bridging two neighboring labs equally obsessed with event memory, narratives, and cognitive aging. Get in touch! Retweets greatly appreciated :)

We had historic flooding in St. Louis this week. Most places are OK, but there was a part of town that is now a disaster site. Unfortunately, Matthew Singh (lab postdoc) had a home in that part. He has lost essentially everything (house, cars, pets), and his son almost died. 1/2
