Gerard announces I’m there to “bestow a great honor.” Crowd erupts. As I walk out, manager mouths: “Frank will take the Key.” I keep remarks short, respectful, impactful. Then… the band gives me wheat & a REAL (yes, dead) fish wrapped in cherry blossoms. (7/8)

The 1st piano note of Black Parade hits. Stadium explodes. I’m thinking: “Great… now I’m about to stop one of the most iconic songs EVER.” Clerk pulls Gerard, song stops. Close-up shows Gerard hysterically laughing at whatever Clerk whispered. (6/8)

I watched from backstage: podium rolls out… NO MIC. Clerk brings the step… NO MIC. Crowd roars, quiets, roars again as Gerard circles the podium. Still no mic. I’m yelling to crew: “No mic!” Radios light up. Gerard hears, grabs a wireless himself. (5/8)

We agreed I’d need my own mic at the podium. I’d watched enough Black Parade shows to know the moment the podium rolls out — usually 5th or 6th song. That night, things moved FAST. A song or two in, the manager came to get me. This was it. (4/8)

The band uses earpieces to avoid stadium echo. My remarks would (hopefully) draw applause, & I didn’t want to step on my own timing. I told Gerard. He smirked: “Yeah, it’s not going to be easy.” Translation: No earpiece for me! LMAO. (3/8)

Walk on stage before 52,000 , give brief remarks, present the 1st-ever Key to the City of Belleville, maybe receive a token back from them, exit. Easy. Was I nervous? No. Just wanted to get it done. My only worry? Production. Specifically… the mic. (2/8)

Just a couple of Belleville guys! @MCRofficial received custom Belleville, NJ street signs & individual Keys to the City in a private meet/greet prior to Saturday’s show at MetLife. Later on, during an on stage presentation, they received an oversized ceremonial Key to the City
