My last corporate party before the recession was Marc renting out the Rainbow Room, dressed as a camel toe. I was in my twenties, it was my second week on the job. The 2000’s in nyc fashion just hit different. 😂

When I first started working corporate it was just before the recession and in addition to a family day at the office (which was AMAZING), they used to do an employee only Christmas party at the Ritz Carlton and it was SPECTACULAR. Each ballroom had a different theme and was decorated accordingly. They served sushi and shrimp cocktail and caviar and champagne. Then 2009 happened and the parties were over.

Tested ChatGPT's new Shopping Research feature and I'm pretty impressed. The UI is adaptive to what you're searching for - it asked me different questions and even organized the results differently when I was looking for "Christmas gift for a 13 year old girl" vs. "best white sneakers for work". It also asks you to rate products while conducting the search to better refine options (with links and reviews provided) - this makes the wait time more tolerable. And IMO, the results are quite good, with detailed justifications for each product. This is a big step up from the other products we've seen in this space (ex. Perplexity Shopping) - I'm curious if they double down on building out UI here...

- Chat will need to enable push notifications, text and email triggers. It’s the only way to capture full shopping intent. We submit ask, close out and do life- you have to drive users back in. -One request can turn into personal, relevant outbound messages with these wired.

Many more tactics to go but a good start. 🎯 I expect knowing exactly what you want will drive highest action and as discovery recommendations get better, the higher number of requests per user to increase driving up usage and ultimately ad revenue.

When I was younger, I remember making and swapping mixtapes and CDs for friends. The people around me are how I found so much great new music. And while it’s been a minute since I last made a mixtape 😂 I’ve never stopped sharing music with the people I care about. That sharing has just become a lot easier via Messages on Spotify. Starting this week, you'll be able to send songs, playlists, podcasts, and audiobooks directly to friends and family, all within the app. I’m excited about what this unlocks. Because when sharing becomes part of the listening experience, discovery becomes more personal, more immediate, and a whole lot easier. Curious to hear what you all think.

This is a BFD: The most annoying pain point unsolved by ATT today- bad reception. Elon finds this wedge and solves it. Once you build perfect reception which is what Starlink will eventually enable, you can accelerate the consumer adoption of switching from ATT to X powered by Starlink. X becomes your mobile carrier and all in one super app including a mini App Store world of (flip on an upsell from X premium subscribers to use Starlink’s service to juice adoption) — X is an expensive but interesting telecom customer acquisition strategy vs a media co. You own the E2E infrastructure of all telecom. You disintermediate ATT and Apple. This play is 🍌.

The first Starlink satellite direct to cell phone constellation is now complete. This will enable unmodified cellphones to have Internet connectivity in remote areas. Bandwidth per beam is only ~10Mb, but future constellations will be much more capable.

I remember years ago at Nike during our Kaepernick campaign when people were burning shoes and sharing it on social. We brought in a vendor to research impact and turned out the majority of these messages were bots. The crazy part was this noise impacted our stock price at the time, in a negative way. Excited for social media to be social again.

Exciting PlasticList update: We were honored to work with @bobaguys to identify and eliminate the sources of BPA contamination, and their teas are now BPA-free! They have fully transitioned to BPA-free receipt paper, which PlasticList confirmed to be BPA-free through independent lab testing. They have also switched to brown sugar in BPA-free packaging. We have been impressed with their commitment to get to the bottom of the issue and move fast to remove BPA from their supply chain. If you want healthy and delicious tea, I highly recommend Boba Guys!
