On this day in 1933, a Czech Jewish boy was born. On the 26 Oct 1941 he was deported to the Łódź Ghetto with his mother and sister (11). They perished in the Shoah. Of the 1000 deported that day, 935 perished. His name was Jiří Stein

On this day in 1930, a Polish Jewish girl was born. Living in Czechoslovakia since 1939, on the 3 Nov 1941 she was deported to the Łódź Ghetto with her mother and brother (1). They perished in the Shoah. Of the 1000 deported that day, 953 perished. Her name was Zuzana Alefanzová
On this day in 1925, a German Jewish girl was born. She had fled to Czechoslovakia and on the 3 Nov 1941 she was deported to the Łódź Ghetto with her mother. They both perished in the Shoah. Of the 1000 deported that day, 953 perished. Her name was Judita Heinemannová
11 June 1942 | Italian Jewish boy, Massimo D'Angeli, was born in Florence.
He arrived at Auschwitz on 14 November 1943 with his older brother Carlo. They were both murdered in a gas chamber after arrival selection with their mother Renata.

Today at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Dublin, six members of the Defence Forces were awarded the Bronze Medal of the Polish Army in recognition of their outstanding contribution to multinational cooperation and their service with the 125th Irish Polish Battalion in UNIFIL.
The medals were presented in acknowledgement of the recipients’ dedication to strengthening cooperation between Irish and Polish personnel serving together in Lebanon.
The Defence Forces values the strong and enduring partnership between Ireland and Poland, both at home and overseas, and congratulates all recipients on this well deserved recognition.

I seem to have a memory of The Netherlands team in ‘74, but I was only about to turn four, so I may have seen it some time later. But I deffo remember the Peru team’s super kit, Archie Gemmill’s goal, Mario Kempes, and the ticker tape at the start of the final in ‘78. #worldcup

In August 1943 she was deported to #Auschwitz from ghetto in Będzin. She did not survive.
