📢Publication Alert! Our latest #connectomics work is out in Cerebral Cortex. We have analyzed one of our favorite open datasets: @AllenInstitute 's MICrONS cortical mm^3. In this EM dataset we found new rules for neuronal connectivity & describe them doi.org/10.1093/cercor/bhae4…

"rising inequality is legitimated by the popular belief that the income gap is meritocratically deserved: the more unequal a society, the more likely its citizens are to explain success in meritocratic terms... the less important... a person’s family wealth and connections."

Where did Trump voters get their news? 📰 Yes, there's social and partisan sites, but there is another influential strategy that isn't getting enough attention: Manipulated, pay-to-play and all out fake news sites I've been covering a mix of those for years. Here's a primer 🧵

Amazing to be a part of this project to build and simulate a general model of an entire cortical region with EM-based connectivity. The model has already been used to study plasticity, spike sorting, LFP, EEG, activity propagation between cortical areas, coding structure/func
Delighted our general atlas-based open model of the somatosensory cortex inc. plasticity & EM connectivity is out in 3 @eLife papers. We used it to study emergent network-level plasticity, spike sorting, intra/inter-area coding, EEG/LFP and struc./function linktr.ee/BlueBrainPjt

Welp, time to shake this off, finish making my slides, and show up to show some students how cool plant bioengineering is. The next 4 years will be full of anti-science clownery and I won't stand idle. It takes a village, so let's pour foundations and do it right.

For a while I was thinking about "Full-stack microscopy", discipline that combines few areas of engineering, biology, and computer science to build well-rounded imaging specialist Starting to outline the slide deck based on lectures/book chapters I've worked on previously

This resulted in a paradoxical outcome. Exclusionary beliefs & behaviors increased nationwide, but that increase was much SMALLER in the districts that received MORE refugees. Districts with FEWER refugees drove the national level threat.
