Looking at the bigger picture instead of the usual ‘this is normal’ spin: The President may head the executive branch, but turning the DOJ’s Public Integrity Section — the very unit meant to police public corruption — into a loyalty filter isn’t ‘reorganization.’ It’s the executive branch eating its own guardrails. Article II gives the President broad authority, but it was never meant to let any one person purge career prosecutors investigating his own circle right after winning office.
Firing the people tasked with rooting out corruption doesn’t ‘drain the swamp’ — it stocks the pond with friendly fish. Can real crimes still be investigated? Sure — by whoever remains after the loyalty test. That’s not how a republic stays healthy; that’s how it starts to look like every other country, where the guy in charge decides who gets prosecuted.
