A statement from Tara Theatre
ALT It is with immense sadness that we are announcing the death of Abdul Shayek, beloved Artistic Director and Joint CEO of Tara Theatre, aged 39. We are heartbroken to share this news on behalf of his family. Abdul died at home unexpectedly, of natural causes. Abdul’s family and Tara Theatre respectfully request privacy and space to come to terms with our devastating loss.

We're looking for 10 community cast members from Torbay to join us for our performances of Vast Rocks Revisited at @filamentcic's Open Season. This recreation of our early work draws inspiration from local outdoor landscapes & the coastline in Torbay.

This was SO much fun and a brilliant tribute to the adventurous spirit of Agatha Christie that lives on in the folks of Torbay who when asked to do some fun and silly things, dived in wholeheartedly (and literally)!

We have now finished filming our fun "people's dance" film to promote the Agatha Christie Festival & the English Riviera itself.
The project was made possible by the generous support of The Linbury Trust. We will be premiering the colourful short film very soon!

Great to be expanding our team and wonderful to have Tamsin teaching with us next year. Dance and music have such a special role to play in motivating people to stay mobile, independent and active and building strength & balance to help prevent falls.

Great to be delivering dance for strength & balance classes in person again after the long gap during lockdowns. Every Wednesday we work with 45 people in Moretonhampstead, Okehampton and Crediton, delivering targeted movement classes and signposting #FallsPrevention support

We didn’t get our @ace_national NPO funding. We proudly listened to our young people on @BBCDevon last night stating everyone should get the chance to tell their story.
We won't stop fighting to enable them to do just that.

There is a critical lack of strategic support for dance in Devon (and more widely across the south west) - a large geographic area with a rich talent base of dance artists & practitioners.. feeling pretty bleak after today's #NPO announcements on top of 2 years of carnage..👇

Soo... We didn't get #NPO. We asked for 75k/yr to deliver a dance programme for Bristol, after years of working for peanuts to create a dance centre for the city. We'll obvs just carry on. Bit gutted. If you want to follow us on Insta that would be nice ❤️ tinyurl.com/5fk4ze52
