Gujarat, with less people and zero oil reserves now has a higher nominal GDP than Iran.
Even with USD to INR at 96, Gujaratโs GDP is $346 billion.
Iranโs oil industry is heavily controlled by the government. Itโs insanely inefficient. Sanctions arenโt a sufficient explanation for low productivity.

Gujjus make the best icecreams coz we probably have the world's highest per capita icecream consumption.
Vadilal, Havmor (now acquired by Lotte), Hocco are all Gujju brands.
In Gujarat it's common for people to offer icecream to guests instead of tea coffee.
