Hype Abandons Hydrogen in Paris, let me explain why. The hydrogen taxi pioneer announced the end of its operations in the Paris region. The company criticized a locked system, soaring prices, and collective industry failure. "Gray hydrogen and its alibi blue hydrogen have won this round" the company stated. Hype denounced an oligopoly built around major players like Air Liquide, TotalEnergies, HysetCo, Hy24, and TEAL. Hydrogen costs skyrocketed from €9/kg in 2021 to €18/kg in 2025 in the Paris region. As a direct result, Hype is abandoning the regional hydrogen sector and focusing on 100% battery technology. The company aims to establish new manufacturer partnerships to deploy hundreds of electric vehicles starting in 2025.
