Welfare breakdown: 50% pensions 40% people IN work & that will go up when they force people into any job 10% unemployed or sick or disabled Seems they have decided the 10% must be punished instead of forcing companies to pay a decent wage so the 40% don't have to claim anything

Wake up Makerfield. Wake up Britain. Labour want to harm you not help you. They are saying this because they STIlL believe the left will vote for them if they act right. Don’t let them get away with it or they will never learn. Vote Green 💚

The convenient cognitive dissonance of politics Keep messaging that the unemployed have to get jobs, bc that gets votes. But fail to mention that there's no jobs for them, bc that doesn't get votes
There are currently around 705k job vacancies in the UK. There are ALREADY around 1.81 million who are unemployed and actively looking for work. Politicians of every party are endlessly saying disability benefits must be cut to force disabled into work. What jobs will they do?

Is this not a reason to call a mistrial?
A fundamental principle being lost here - is that if you are charged with terrorism - you can defend yourself by explaining why you are not. As the Filton 4 were never charged or found guilty of terrorism - the judge who sentenced them as terrorists -has denied them this right.

These ads are now everywhere on Facebook. If @AmazonKDP doesn't do something to weed out this junk, the integrity of all indie authors is under threat. All Amazon needs to do is CLEARLY flag every book that is written with AI - let readers make the decision.

Bloomberg is owned by the world's 18th richest man. Billionaires emit more carbon in one hour than a poor person does in a lifetime. This is propaganda.

The problem isn’t welfare @AndyBurnhamGM It’s extraction. The welfare state is magic self perpetuating. The problem isn’t welfare. The welfare state was one of the greatest engines of prosperity ever created: healthier children, educated workers, security that allowed people to innovate and take risks. The problem is extraction, an economy where wealth flows upwards and away from the communities that create it. A society cannot cut its way to prosperity if its productive foundations are being hollowed out.

Hugh Grant is fed up with what screens are doing to kids. As a dad in his 50s, he says the hardest part of parenting isn’t the children themselves, it’s fighting the most powerful industry on earth that’s ruthlessly addicting kids to screens for profit. What finally pushed him over the edge? Schools proudly handing every child an iPad, turning the entire day into screen time. He calls it almost unbearable. We’re only now starting to see the real downsides of all this screen time. We’ll need to find the right balance, and above all, follow the emerging science. At what age did screens start worrying you with your kids?

Jobs for young adults is a pressing issue of our times. One possibility is that a freeze or reversal of the state pension age could release jobs for younger adults. It could also give a respite to senior citizens being worked to death. What do you make of the Minister's reply?

I really miss Clive James! He was charming, subtle, endlessly witty, and profoundly withering, all at the same time
“The problem with Australians is not that so many of them are descended from convicts, but that so many of them are descended from prison officers.” Clive James

When the rent goes up and salaries stay stagnant, that's just a transfer of wealth from people who work for a living to people who own things for a living.

It's always a pleasure to hear people such as Lord Richard Walker [est net worth £424m] and war criminal Tony Blair [est net worth £60m] bleating on about the 'unfair' pensions triple lock system and how it's 'unaffordable'. Balderdash! ft.com/content/21527e4b-c720… via @ft

I can confirm: shared ownership is not affordable. It's leasehold on steroids.
🆕 The Housing Select Committee has published its report on homeownership affordability. It concludes: 👉 "Shared ownership (...) is not a long-term affordable option for many of the buyers to whom it is marketed." 🧵
