A man has been charged after a woman was allegedly raped in Arbroath.
The 23-year-old will appear at Forfar Sheriff Court over the alleged serious sexual assault in the Bridge Street area on Saturday June 6.
The age of the woman is not known, but it is understood she is an adult.
Police Scotland told The Courier it is aware of posts on social media relating to the alleged incident, but confirmed it did not involve illegal migrants.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: โOn Saturday, 6 June, 2026, we received a report of a serious sexual assault in the Bridge Street area of Arbroath.
โA 23-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection and is due to appear at Forfar Sheriff Court at a later date.โ
There are rumours it was Illegal migrants but they are just rumours at the moment as police have not revealed details of the perpetrators as of yet. But nothing surprises me now as it probably doesnโt with you.
