the other issue is that old films simply look worse. i do not have the vocabulary to describe this precisely, but modern films look "sharper" and their colors feel more carefully chosen

I am shocked and devastated by the death of Gavin Creel. What an incredible talent. What a loss. One of the highlights of my experience in a musical audience was seeing him perform in Into the Woods last year in SF. He made every role iconic in new ways. Rest in Peace, prince.

In the Disney Snow White when the Evil Queen casts spells to physically transform herself, one is for "a blast of wind to fan my hate." That's wild, she could have cast a spell for anything and she settled on "I want to hate Snow White even MORE while I'm doing this."
