I've been exploring Dynamic Consistency Boundary support in RailsEventStore, strongly believing the groundwork was already there: mostlyobvio.us/2026/04/dynam…

In this article I walk through a working proof of concept: a single-file implementation using Postgres SERIALIZABLE isolation to guarantee correctness under concurrent writes. No schema changes required.

The conclusion is that DCB support in RailsEventStore is well within reach. The main challenge for an official release would be introducing new APIs without breaking the existing stream-based approach that many production apps rely on.

"...it would be a shame to think of it simply as time to rest-up for more work. Sadly, this is the mindset for many us caught up in a world of pressure, productivity, and, well... more, More, MORE! We've got it wrong if we think of vacations (or even weekends) as a way to recharge for work. To put it another way, we shouldn't be resting so we can work. Work is necessary. Work is important. Meaningful even. Being effective at work matters. But we work so that we may rest. Rest is where the most important things live: families, friends, hobbies, play. The things that feed our souls. Fill yourself with those things and, somehow, you'll also be better at work." world.hey.com/jz/sabbaticals…

Stoked to be showing geneva_drive at Wroclove.rb in April! It's going to be fun (and highly durable too).

And it's live: ptrchm.com/actionbar/ ✅ GitHub Actions in your macOS menu bar.

Always wanted this simple app, but couldn't find it. A menu bar app that shows @github Actions runs with their statuses. Now it exists.

We design everything on web mobile-first… except code samples. Here’s a look at three approaches: clever, boring and something in between. A tour of Ruby on WebAssembly, Hotwire with Turbo Frames and something @maciejkorsan would be proud of. mostlyobvio.us/2026/02/respo…

That's a brilliant idea — reminds me of a versioned overlay filesystem for tracking changes to /etc backed by @MercurialScm that I did once at university
3 Dec 2025
Would you let an AI agent run free on your filesystem? Most people wouldn't. That's why we're building overlay support for AgentFS: 📁Base layer: your repo, immutable 🔀Agent layer: isolated, copy-on-write sandbox The agent sees a real filesystem. Your files never change.
